This terrifying photo of a great white shark jumping behind a surfer

At an annual surfing competition off the coast of California this past weekend, photographer Jordan Anast captured a great white shark leaping out of the water behind a speeding competitor. A cliché that goes around the networks.

During a match Surf Organized on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 October at sea in California, American photographer Jordan Anast wanted to immortalize this event. Armed with a camera, he headed to San Onofre Beach, about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego.

When he wanted to photograph a surfer, Jordan Anast saw a great one Shark White jumps out of the water behind the competitor in action.

“It’s been an amazing 24 hours since this photo was posted,” Jordan Anast shared the photo on Instagram. “It’s non-stop media coverage and my phone, email, text and website are constantly blowing up,” she added.

This is not the first time a white shark has been “invited” to a surfing competition. In 2019, a similar incident occurred in Lower Trestles, north of San Onofre Beach, a known breeding ground for young great white sharks.
