80,000 homes were without power in mid-afternoon after a substation in Lamentin malfunctioned.

This Thursday, November 24, 2022, EDF Martinique reported on its Facebook page at the beginning of the afternoon “an incident at the source substation of Lamentin” in the district of Petit-Morne. The result: 80,000 subscribers lost power and a subcontractor was injured. According to the operator, the situation gradually improved.

Electricité De France announced on social networks this Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the beginning of the afternoon.“An incident at the source station in Lamentin town where 80,000 subscribers are currently without power”.

Located in the district of Petit-Morne, the substation supplies networks to the center of Martinique and municipalities in the south and north of the island.

The duration of this intervention is not estimated, but the operator thinks “Sorry for the inconvenience”.

Additionally, an agent from a subcontractor was injured during this repair (still in progress).

In fact, an employee of a service provider was injured. He was treated by firefighters and admitted to the University Hospital of Martinique, conscious. But at this stage, the reasons for the incident are not known. It will definitely require an investigation from us and from the police who immediately rushed to the spot and set up a security perimeter.
