Before unveiling its full electric vehicle, Tesla allowed journalists to explore the semi and compare with a conventional diesel truck – and there was a clear-cut difference.

“The Semi was specially designed to give the driver a spacecraft-like driving experience, featuring free stairs for easy passage, spacious standing room, and a focused driver area for clear vision” The company announced.

The vehicle feels fundamentally unique – just like the extention of a spaceship – but it is more of a car. Tesla designers learned how to create space from SpaceX, just next door to Tesla design center.

As the Company clarified, a significant part of the Semi was created from parts of the Model 3. Innovation started in 2016, beginning with the assertion that Tesla could rebuild the entire concept of the big rig truck. The propulsion would be gotten from the driver units of four different Model 3.

The truck’s floor will accommodate the battery, while the driver will be above and at the center, between two model-3 touch-screens. The Semi’s storage quarters are enormous. It features a jumpseat just by the right side of the driver for an additional passenger. It also features a console which contains cupholders as well as USB ports. There is also a front boot that is sufficiently wide to hold two or three bags.

The Semi doesn’t features a sleeper cab

Unlike other big-rigs, the Semi does not currently have sleeper taxi, but with great confidence, Tesla said that could also be included if it’s in high demand. The Semi’s battery packs are standardized and could be utilized based on the driver’s desire.

We saw a shimmering silver and a matte black prototype Semis, each vehicle has a streamlined component over the taxi, for various sorts of trailers. The back wheels were designed on one side, to display another optimized feature, and the large truck wheels also have the streamlined hubcap designs – similar to that of the Model 3.

The Semi is a big Model 3

From various perspectives, the Semi is an improved version of the model 3. The company’s goal was to utilize the economies of scale with the components of the Model 3, given that Tesla could manufacture thousands of the truck soon with a stable supply stream.

That stretches out to the self-driving technology in the truck, collected from the components of the Model 3, and also, as indicated by Tesla, recalibrated for the more substantial weight and massive size of the Semi.
