Over 100 leading experts in robotics are calling on the United Nations to stop the creation of killer robots.
The intention of the group was made in a letter that had the signature of Elon Musk, the group warned of the possible consequence of having this kind of robots.
The 116 experts in robotics started that the use of robots in lethal weapon technology would be led to a “Pandora’s box.
“If this is approved it would lead to a more vicious war and a lot more humans would be affected”.
“They would become weapons of mass destruction and will be used by terrorist and despots against civilians.”
“Once this starts, it will be hard to reverse it.”
The letter called for the ban of killer robots and want it to be included in the list of weapons that are under the United Nations UN Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW).
The group are led by the founder of Tesla, Elon Musk. Mustafa Suleyman, and co-founder of Google’s DeepMind.
An Ongoing Battle
A UN group that focuses on autonomous weaponry will meet to discuss this on Monday but the meeting has been pushed back to December.
There has been another discussion on the rise of a killer robot by the United National committees.
In 2015, over 1000 experts in tech, science and the research industry sent a letter that also warned against the rise of this type of weapon.
