Warner Bros. announced the release of the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them on Monday. The studio shared some vital plot details to whet the fans’ appetites.

Albus Dumbledore and Newt Scamander are teaming up together to fight Grindelwald, played by Johnny Depp. The movie will continue on months after the events at the end of the first film. Jude Law will be playing young Dumbledore and Eddie Redmayne returning as the protagonist Newt.

Followers For The Cause

The movie will begin with Grindelwald escaping and “gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore.”

The studio didn’t stop there, they go on to tell press, “But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.”

The statement continues, “The adventure reunites Newt with Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler), but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.”

More Features

The sequel will also feature returning cast member Ezra Miller as Credence, who “makes a mysterious return.” Leta Lestrange who had appeared in a photo in the first film will be played by Zoe Kravitz.

Callum Turner (Green Room), who’ll play Theseus Scamander and Claudia Kim (Avengers: Age of Ultron), set to play a mysterious woman at a wizarding circus, are among the new additions to the cast. They’ll be alongside William Nadylam, Ingvar Sigurdsson, Olafur Darri Olafsson and Kevin Guthrie.

J.K. Rowling and Director David Yates are back to write and direct the film respectively.

The action will be moving from New York, in the new untitled sequel, over the Atlantic to London and Paris. And for the Harry Potter fans out there the studio shares, “There are also some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of the books and film series.”

The second part of Fantastic Beasts is expected to debut November 16th 2018.
