Post mortem report shows the late Star Wars actress had three drugs in her system when she died.
US media reported that Fisher may have ingested cocaine three days before she fell ill on December 23rd. Traces of ecstasy aka MDMA and heroin were found in her system.
Famous for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, Carrie Fisher struggled with drug addiction and mental illness. Her daughter Billie Lourd confirms “My mum battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life. She ultimately died of it.”
Investigators couldn’t determine if the cocaine or the other drugs had an impact on her death. She also suffered from sleep apnea, which is a breathing disorder that can stop a person’s breathing during their sleep and heart disease.
Cause Of Death Undetermined
The Coroner has announced that her death will be listed as undetermined. This doesn’t effect Fisher’s death certificate which stated cause of death as “Cardiac arrest/deferred”, issued back in January.
According to a statement released in People magazine by Fisher’s daughter, Billie expressed that her mother, who died 29 December 2016, was open about her drug use and battles with mental illness.
“She was purposefully open in all of her work about social stigmas surrounding these diseases.”
