Reports spread that Katy Perry was getting an alleged whopping $25 million to be a judge at “American Idol”, according to TMZ, and the pop star had to have her say regarding the reports.
The fact that Perry has to promote her new album Witness made her regularly make an appearance on TV shows and radio or make big headlines either referring to her new album or the implications that her song Swish Swish Bish carry regarding Katy Perry’s and Taylor Swift’s infamous beef.
As usual, reports and speculations will not keep aloof from the Roar singer as she spoke with 103.5 KTU’s radio host Carolina Bermudez to express her opinion regarding the fact that people are inserting her network worth and business life in their talks.
“I’m sure that you hear in the news people talking about you and the whole American Idol situation that’s come out. Does that ever irk you that people are talking about how much money you make or how much they paid you to be on that show, or are you like ‘Yup, I deserve every last penny’?” Carolina Bermudez asked Perry.
Perry expressed her enrage over the digital frenzy that the internet and websites promote and put forward so they can garner click baits. That is why Perry abandoned print media interviews and approved of radio and TV ones as her statements would not be taken out of context.
“You know, I think there’s a couple ways to go about answering that question. One is, first and foremost, the news, the media. I kinda stopped doing a whole lot of print media and I only do radio and TV because context is wild these days. Nobody cares about intention. It’s all clickbait. It’s all a bunch of crap on the Internet. I think ‘www’ stands for wild, wild, west,” the singer said.
More than any man
Perry, however, opens up about her gratitude that she had the accomplishments that qualify her to be a woman who gets paid more than any man stepped in the show.
“I’m really proud that, as a woman, I got paid. And you know why? I got paid like more than like pretty much any guy that’s been on that show,” she said. “And, by the way, I love men. So I’m a paid woman and I’m ready for a beautiful man.”
