Kanye West’s tragic hospitalization last week sent a shock through the entertainment industry, but the rapper was given a clean bill of health and released Wednesday.
The “Yeezy” rapper abruptly cancelled his tour only hours before he admitted himself to the UCLA medical center for “severe exhaustion” after a series of mental breakdowns.
Saint Pablo Tour Cancelled
Despite his release from the hospital, the Saint Pablo Tour remains cancelled for the remainder of 2016, and all 2017 dates are being postponed indefinitely.
The 39-year old had been the center of controversy for the past few weeks, and according to the New York Times, he has been “spiraling” for months.
Friends of the rapper attribute his exhaustion to the fact that he is a “workaholic… He’s been working around the clock on fashion design… and the rigours of the tour every night…really wore him out,” said a source close to the artist.
Bizarre Series of Events
In November, he was booed on stage for admitting that he did not participate in the recent election, but would have backed Trump had he voted.
He also made uncharacteristically negative remarks regarding Beyoncé and Jay-Z, close friends to him and his wife Kim Kardashian West, during his performance.
However, many suggest that the November 10th anniversary of his mother’s death is what pushed him over the edge, and that he had been struggling with it since she passed away in 2007.
Road to Recovery
There has been an outpour of messages from fans and fellow celebrities in support of West on social media following news of his hospitalization.
A source close to the family told TMZ that West is still in a “fragile state and needs medical and psychological help to become healthy again.”
