As a spectacular 2016, is coming to its end, seems like Drake and Rihanna’s reign isn’t over just yet. Spotify just announced its year-end list of the most popular acts that ruled over the streaming service this year, and guess who made it to the top. That’s right, the Canadian rapper sensation and the Barbados singing queen just wrapped it up with crowning glory.

Drake had a dream run in 2016, seeing incredible success across both US and International charts. Coming toe-to-toe with top artists and some of the most streamed artists, he also enjoys the pride of having the most streamed tracks. His ‘One Dance (feat. WizKid and Kyla)’ was one among the most streamed tracks of the year and his album ‘Views’ is one of the most streamed albums.

This was Drake’s consecutive year as the most streamed artist in the world, with a whopping 4.7 billion streams. Interestingly, he just doubled his own record of over 1.8 billion streams last year. The Canadian rapper also holds the record of Spotify’s most streamed artist ever with well over 8.7 billion lifetime streams.

Meanwhile the Bajan beauty, Rihanna didn’t hold back either. She was the most streamed female artist of the year with rank in almost every list, including international top artists and the most streamed albums list. The Caribbean sweetheart saw a phenomenal run at the charts this year, with her album ‘Anti’ topping the billboards in March.

Beauty queen; Rihanna, the now singer turned actress, is currently on set shooting for her highly anticipated movie ‘Ocean’s Eight’, the all-female  spin-off of the Ocean film franchise. Let’s all wait with abated breathe to see if RiRi can sizzle on the silver screen as she did on the music charts.

Interesting trivia – Rihanna’s single ‘Work’ which featured rapper Drake himself reached number one on the ‘Billboard Hot 100’ earlier this year. When two sensations join hands, the result is bound to be sensational too!
